Tekin takes Keyston Classic

The Hobbico Keystone Classic was held the weekend July 11th at the Mushroom Bowl RC Speedway.  Tekin drivers Ryan Lutz and JD Blair were in attendance. Race entries were over 140+ would make for some great racing in classes from 1/8 Buggy to 1/10 Buggy on two different tracks!

JD Blair would continue to push his own Tq further and further taking the overall Tq for the E Truggy class. Making a quick adjustment to his truck to make it a bit easier to drive in the A-main JD would go on to take the win from tone to tone in his Tekin Tekno ET48 E truggy. JD chose the Tekin Rx8 Gen2 and 2000kv T8 Gen2 motor to take the win.

Ryan Lutz would enter the 1/8 E Buggy class as well as 1/10 2wd Buggy. Ryan would dominate qualifying in both classes and go onto to take the wins in both. Ryan chose the Tekin Rx8 Gen2 and T8i 1950 to power his Dex408V2 1/8 Buggy. Ryan was running the Tekin RSX and Gen2 Redline 7.5 in his Dex210 buggy for the wins.

Wheeler and Tekin win Proline Indoor Champs!

2nd Annual Pro-line Indoor Champs held at Warehouse 3 Raceway in Phoenix, Az wrapped over this past weekend. Tekin factory driver Chris Wheeler was in attendance showcasing his latest Tekin RSX Gen2 powered TLR ride.

Chris would put his Tekin powered TLR 22 SCT 2.0 on the P1 position taking rounds 2 and 3 in qualifying. Using the Tekin RSX and 7.5 Redline Gen2 motor for power Wheeler would start from the 1 spot on the grid and would lead wire to wire in the 10 minute A-main to take the TQ and win for the 2nd year in a row.

The biggest and most competitive class of the event was 17.5 2wd buggy. Chris would qualify in the 5th position for the 10 minute main. At the start Wheeler stayed patient and managed to move up to 3rd after a few mistakes from other drivers and would then move up to 2nd. The layout was very one line and tough to pass on so patience was need and by the time Chris moved into 2nd the leader had a large lead so he would settle for 2nd overall. Chris again chose the Tekin RSX Esc and Redline Gen2 line of motors.

Tekin success at the EVO Series!

This past weekend the EVO series hosted by the Outback Raceway sponsored by AKA wrapped up. A 4 race series hosted once a month on various track layouts would test the drivers resolve and dedication. Each driver had to run the spec tire for the class in which they were entered in, all AKA Evo tires of course!  A spec tire sauce was chosen also, MoGrip from Factory-RC.  Consistency would be key to take the overall in one of these classes.

Tekin Factory driver Jason “Mo” Moberly would do just that Tq’ing 3 of the 4 rounds in Pro2 Mod SC truck and go onto win 3 of the 4 rounds as well to take the overall win in the division. Jason was piloting his Tekin RSX Gen2 Redline powered TLR 22 SCT truck which gave him the platform to pull off a well deserved title win.

Moberly would also take 2nd overall in Mod 2wd Buggy having Tq’d and won the final round. Jason once again chose the Tekin RSX esc and Redline Gen2 motor.

Tekin powered Justin Moon would dominate the 2wd Mod Buggy class as well as the 2wd Mod Stadium truck division borrowing team manager Randy Pikes TLR 22ST truck. Moon chose the Tekin RSX and Redline Gen2 series in both cars.

Young Tekin driver Drew Lorenz would take 3rd in Pro 8 Lite. Drew was running the award winning Tekin Rx8 Gen2 and Pro4 HD. Drew also took 3rd overall in the Pro Stock 2wd Buggy class rocking a Tekin RS Gen2 and Redline 17.5 Gen2 motor. Tekin teammate Kevin Jelich would join him on that podium, taking 2nd overall running the same equipment.

1-8  LiteDrw’s father Jeff Lorenzo would also take 2 second place  Stock SC Truck and 3rd in Stock Stadium using the Tekin RS Gen2 and Redline Gen2 17.5. Jeff also snagged a 2nd in the Pro4 SC truck class running the Tekin Rx8 Gen2 and Pro4 motor.

Olson and Wheeler shoot down the competition at the 2014 SDRC Top Gun Shootout!

Held this past weekend, SDRC would play hose the Top Gun Shootout!  Sporting a Joe “El Dirte” Christensen layout, racers were sure to be in for some close and tight racing. The layout looked awesome and open practice reflected this with the drivers stand “busy” at all times!

Factory Tekin drivers had success right away. Tekin’s newest driver Chris Wheeler managed to take the overall Tq in the Pro2 SC class with his newly Tekin powered TLR 22SCT truck. Chris chose the Tekin RSX and Redline Gen2 7.5t to take Tq. Chris was up against tough competition and would have to settle for a hard earned 3rd his first time out with Tekin. We know these results are only going to build(Randy Pike).

Tekin team veteran Matt “MIP” Olson was on the track running hard. Matt run hard against the rest of the field with his Tekin Rx8 Gen2 Pro4HD powered MIP/TLR truck. Matt would have to get around Tq David Jensen and would manage it to take the overall win.

Olson would continue his success taking 3rd in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and 2nd in the 1/8 Lite Class.  In his 4wd buggy Matt chose the Tekin RSX and Redline Gen2. Matt’s MIP converted Pro8 was powered by a Tekin Rx8 Gen2 and T8i 1950.

Darren Lord and Tekin take QLD State Title.

The Qld state titles kicked off with 2wd buggy on Saturday 28th of June 2014. Tekin factory driver Darren Lord went in blazing the track in stock 2wd buggy. Consistent power and smooth electronics using the Tekin RS Gen 2 esc and 17.5 Redline Gen2 motor Lord managed to TQ and win all 3 finals to clean sweep the QLD state title for 2wd stock buggy.

Sunday started with 4wd drive day running two classes for the day turning it into a real busy day. Starting from 3rd on the grid, Lord would put in solid run in A1 taking a 2nd. In A’s 2 and 3 Lord would go onto win taking yet another QLD State Title, this time in the 4wd Stock Buggy class. Darrent once again chose the Tekin RSX and Redline Gen2 17.5, setup with a Hotwire 2.0.

4wd SCT was a demo class and I finished the weekend with 3rd over all using a RX8 Gen 2 and the Pro4HD 4300.

Tekin welcomes Chris Wheeler to the Team!

Tekin would like to welcome Chris Wheeler to the team!  Chris is a very accomplished TLR factory driver out of Arizona. Chris’s recent accomplishments include taking 3rd in the 2wd Mod SCT division at the 2014 Cactus Classic.

Chris is making his Tekin debut this weekend at the SDRC Top Gun Shootout!

Chris will be rocking the Tekin RSX esc’s and Redline Gen2 in his TLR factory rides.

Furtado wins Rd1 of the Maximus RC Triple Crown Series.

This past weekend I attended Round 1 of the Triple Crown Series at Maximus R/C Raceway up in York, ME. This series is one race a month during the Summer months of June,July, and August. The driver with the most points at the end of the 3 races is crowned Champion in that class.

IMG_0749In attendance were drivers from all over the New England estimating a total number of entries between 70-90 with 12 heat races. Tekin powered Scott Furtado was competing in 2 classes: 2wd Mod buggy and 4wd Mod buggy. With the biggest class of the weekend was 2wd buggy with 3 heats.

In the end Furtado ended up TQ in 2wd Mod buggy and finished 3rd, and in 4wd Mod buggy, Furtado qualified 2nd and ended up winning the main. “I had a great day of racing and my Tekin powered TLR22 ( RSX speedo and 8.5 Gen2) and TLR 22-4 (RSX speedo and 6.5 Gen2) were on point all day.
