This past weekend Norcal Hobbies held the third and final round of the NCRL series. Tekin pilot Justin Moon only had to show up and finish to claim the overall title in the 2wd Mod Buggy division. Justin would taking two 1st’s, a 2nd and a 3rd in the Reedy format. Taking the series championship with six 2nd place finishes,five 1st place finishes and one 3rd place.
Justin chose the Tekin RSX and Redline 9.5T motor to power him to the overall series championship title.
This past weekend Dirt Burner Racing in Livonia MI host the Michigan State Championship series. Taking the overall TQ in 4wd SC in the 2nd and 3rd round of qualifying, Tekin pilot Kevin Morales made a few bobbles at the start of the A final. This forced him to chase George Berridge for a few laps until he broke handing the lead and the overall win back to Kevin. Kevin chose the Tekin Rx8 Gen2 esc and Pro4 HD 4300kv in his TLR SCTe2.0.
In E truggy Morales had a rough 1st and 2nd qualifier and was prepared to TQ in the 3rd but ended up breaking an axle, placing him second on the grid. After another rough start Morales worked his way back up to the front where he was able to put down smooth consistent laps to take the win. Kevin chose the Tekin RX8 with Tekin T8 2250 in his TLR 8ight T 3.0e.
Derek Stephansen recaps the Showdown:
“This past weekend it was it time for the Motown Showdown at Modesto RC Raceway. This event is pretty unique as it isn’t your standard 2 day race, but instead a one day race that consist of 3 ifmar style qualifying rounds and 8 min single a-mains. It would also bring in about 100 entries and close racing all day long. On Friday I would attend practice that would start off with a really loose track as the track began to break in throughout the day with sweeping and watering every 30 minutes to an hour. I would focus on the three classes I would run which was Mod SCT, Mod 2wd Buggy, and 4wd Mod. By the end of the day all my cars were feeling pretty good.
Come Saturday morning the track would open at 7am and I would utilize the practice to make some adjustments on my 2wd mod car as the track is always rather different for the bigger events than club race that I usually attend routinely since the track is only 5 minutes from my house. Come qualifying I would get off to a good start by Tqing all 3 rounds of qualifying with my Tekin powered B5m, 22SCT 2.0 and 22-4. Needless to say my Tekin powered cars were handling the warm temperatures well and were ready for the long 8 minute electric mains that were to come that evening.
The first main of the evening would be Modified SCT and I would be starting up front with my RSX/ Gen 7.5 equipped 22SCT 2.0. I would be able to get a good start and begin to gap the field on the first lap. Being a more technical layout then past layouts the Tekin combination provided a smooth powerband that would allow me to push my 22SCT 2.0 to win number one of the day by over a lap on the field by the end of the eight minute a main.
The second main of the night would be 4wd mod buggy with me once again starting on the one spot going into tear drop off the straight way. Being a track that is normally hard to control tire spin on, my Tekin RSX/ Gen 2 6.5 combination would transfer power to the wheels of my 22-4 on the start that would allow me to gap the field. Unfortunately on lap two I would tap the curbing coming through the switch backs making me have to be turn marshalled. This would allow Reno based racer Rick Jenkins to get close, but I would put my head down and go back to work. At the end of the 8 min main I would have lapped all the way through second giving me my second win of the day and second win for the RSX and Gen2 motor line. The best part would be my speedo would only come off at 3 lights for temp with no fan while others were running fans.
The final main of the night would be 2wd modified and would most likely be the hardest main of the night with Codey Hughey starting right behind me in the two. Having not had the side bite I was looking for throughout qualifying I made a change on my rear anti-squat that really helped. At the start me and Codey would get clean start and be able to stretch. Throughout the run I would slowly stretch over the 8 minutes lapping the whole field once again to give me win number 3 of the day and a sweep at the Motown Showdown with Tekin electronics and motors!
Overall it was another great race and I am already looking forward to next years. Time to get ready to head to NCRL round #3 at Norcal Hobbies next weekend.” Derek Stephansen
This past weekend was Round 2 of the Southern Offroad Series, held at Dalton RC which had close to 150 entries for the race. Shay Brand was able to get the TQ in all 3 rounds of qualifying, making minor adjustments to the car each round as the groove came in and a slight dust developed over the track. Brand was able to take advantage of his TQ position and hold the 1st position for the entire main event, and come away with the win with a lap on the field.

Round 2 of MSCS held at Dirt Burners Racing in Livonia Michigan. There were a total of 177 entries at this event with Nitro buggy and Ebuggy being the biggest classes.
Tekin factory drivers Nick Vasquez would take the overall Tq in 1/8 E Buggy over teammate Rippee going into the A final. Vasquez and Rippee would blast away from the field. Traffic would become a factor slowing Vasquez down allowing Rippee to take the lead and finish out front. Both drivers chose the Tekin Rx8 Gen2 esc and T8 Gen2 lineup of motors.
Palm Desert RC Raceway hosted round two of the popular JBRL Nitro Series this past weekend. The event had 200 entries and as always attracted a good mixture of World-class drivers and local talent. Adam Drake from Tekin Racing was top qualifier in the 1/8th E-Buggy class. Adam took the win with his Tekin powered MBX7R Eco followed by Tekin teammate Brian Sullivan and Steve Harris. Adam and Brian both chose the Tekin Rx8 Gen2 esc and T8 Gen2 lineup of motors to power them to the podium.
MRC Oberaich hosted the 1st ever Austrian E Buggy Nationals. 4 rounds will decide the winner of the overall National Champion. MRC offers a great racing size and surface for the 1/8 cars. Weather caused continual track changes forcing the drivers to stay on their toes all weekend. Tekin powered Serpent factory driver Hupo Hönigl would set he pace early on taking the overall Tq position. Starting from P2 in the finals after a bad tire choice Hupo would battle with Wollanka(Xray) securing the overall win taking A1 and A2 handily. Wollanka would take 2nd, Heiss 3rd overall.

Heritage RC Park in Chula Vista, CA hosted Round 2 of the Pro-Line Championship Series. Like Round 1, Round 2 had 70+ entries, and we would run 7 minute qualifiers. The track was watered every other heat.
The competition for this round would include J.D. Mora of LRP, TLR’s Don Vinkemulder, Mugen drivers Robert Wickham, Jaime Boquiren and Felipe Martinez, Darin Rogers of Tekno RC and some very fast local racers.
1/8 Scale E Buggy
Luca Sanford recaps: “For both qualifiers of E Buggy, I opted for a fresh set of Soft AKA GridIron IIs, and it was a good choice. The car was very planted, and easy to drive. In Q1, I had a perfect run, and would get the first round TQ. In Q2, Mora pressed me hard for the first 5 minutes of the 7 minute qualifier, but I ran mistake free. I just missed my first round TQ, but would start first in the 10 minute A Main.
I got a great start in the Main, and pulled out to an early lead over the field. My Kyosho MP9e TKI, with the Tekin RX8 Gen2 and Redline T8 Gen2 1900 motor was fantastic. The AKA GridIron II tires on DE Racing SpeedLine Plus wheels were amazing. I ran the entire 10 minute Main mistake free, and finished on top of the podium.”
