Winter sure does put a damper on the outdoor RC fun for us here in Idaho, but sometimes it just takes a trip to lower elevation to get out of the snow! Finally got to put some trail time on the UMG10 build and I gotta say, this is a great rig and has become my favorite Axial vehicle to date. I love the body, the tires are perfect style and size and all the upgrades brought it together.

Dortmund and Soukoroff win at the Winter Rage at the X!
The Winter Rage at the X in Walla Walla, WA is shaping up to be a big Northwest event! Tekin Team drivers had a great weekend at the X-treme RC race facility. Kevin Soukoroff was the man to beat in the 2WD Modified Buggy and Truck classes, locking up the TQ in both and claiming the #1 spot on the grid for Sunday’s triple A-Mains! Souk was on rails in Mod Truck and locked up the overall win after A2, letting that truck rest and watch the rest of the field battle it out in A3.
Matt Dortmund had a great weekend as well, winning the ultra-competitive 4WD Modified Buggy class after 3 A-Main battles with fellow team mate Kevin Soukoroff and TQ in the class, Robert Sorjonen. It came right down to A3 to determine the overall winner and Dortmund was on a mission to bring home that win. Matt also came away with a 2nd place finish in the 4WD Stadium Truck class!
RESULTS
2WD Modified Truck – Kevin Soukoroff TQ & 1st
2WD Modified Buggy – Kevin Soukoroff TQ
4WD Modified Truck – Matt Dortmund 2nd
4WD Modified Buggy – Matt Dortmund 1st / Kevin Soukoroff 3rd

Hope everybody had a great holiday season and Happy New Year! It’s 2020 now, wow. The Pro-MT was a lot of fun over break, it thrashes the snow and is definitely a GREAT option for bashing! The 2300KV ROC412 HD on 4S provides plenty of bash power and should get us speeds up into the 40’s with the stock gearing. Having a full setup of Element Proof products let us play in the snow for hours over break with absolutely no issues!

A new truck showed up at the shop and I just couldn’t wait to get it thrown together for some Christmas Break bashing! The Pro-Line PRO-MT 4×4 is a 1:10 4WD Monster Truck from Pro-Line Racing. Based on the Pro-Fusion SC, the MT Pre-Built Roller has a slightly shorter wheelbase, monster truck style Sentinel pickup body and 2.8″ wheels premounted with Badlands MX tires. All you need to do is install your electronics, bolt the wheels and tires on and paint the body! Ours is the Special Edition with the Ambush body and Trail Cage.

Trucking along with the Axial SCX10-II UMG10 build! This week we build shocks, suspension links, install the axles and assemble the Vanquish wheels and MT45 tires! We also install our T-360 Servo, BXR Element Proof ESC, solder it all up and finish off with a Spektrum SR315 and DX5C radio! It’s a functional runner now, all that is left is to put the custom touch on the body and take it out for a drive!

New month, new build! The Axial SCX10 platform has been the standard in scale crawling for over a decade. The potential to create whatever you are dreaming of is basically unlimited! The UMG10 is a kit version of the SCX10-II platform and heavily resembles the ever-popular Unimog from Mercedes Benz. This 1/10 scale kit gives builders a very nice platform to start with and from there create whatever they desire.
We are starting out our build by assembling axles and to give our truck an edge we are building the axles completely from aftermarket parts! Beef Tube AR44 housings provide 50g of weight and added strength to the axle tubes, Vanquish 6-bolt locker and gears beef up the inside, Vanquish shock/link mounts on the outside and RC4WD portal assemblies to top off our “Unimog” axles. We are also building our transmission and chassis, preparing our UMG10 for shocks, suspension links and axles to be mounted up. Next episode will cover electronics installation, mounting up wheels and tires and setting up the suspension!
Kyle Turner Takes Top Spots at the 2019 Harvest Classic
This past weekend I was at the Annual Harvest Festival and ended up doing well! Going into qualifying my E-buggy was good for the majority of the time making some small changes. I managed to TQ the first and third rounds of qualifying to take the overall TQ having some good battling. After some rough nitro buggy qualifying I was able to get 3rd overall finally getting a decent run in. For the E-buggy main event, me and Cj Jelin were battling back and forth for the majority of the race, both of us having minimal mistakes I would win by about a couple seconds in the end.
Tekin Builds EP.14 – Test, Tune, Repeat!
The final Street Eliminator episode….for this year! I swapped out our Pro2 5800kV mill for a GEN3 4.5T motor and started chasing more top speed. Since it’s so cold out and our road isn’t much in the way of traction, I decided to focus on getting the car to launch in better conditions and instead see how fast this car can go. I have to say I’m very happy with the speeds I am getting out of the 4.5T!
After slowly working my way up the ladder from the initial 44mph the Pro2 ran at stock ESC settings, I have now reached 72mph with the 4.5T, proper gearing and some tuning. I tuned the RS Pro with a HotWire 3.0 from my phone and I also kept track of each run with our Data Logging. This was key in seeing how far I could push my setup and in the end, we ended up going FASTER and keeping everything COOLER. Win-win right there! I still want to see if I can get more out of it.
