| Top racers from all over the west coast not flocked to Union City California for The Inaugural Norcal Off-road Champs. Not only were some of the fastest rc racers of northern California in attendance but some of So Cal's finest showed up for this awesome event. AE's Frank Root, Novak's Barry Fabulous Baker, AE's Sean Cochran, Hot Bodies Josh Alton, and more diced it up over the race weekend.
The race was held over the last weekend of June (27th and 28th) at Norcal Hobbies in Union City California. This was an all electric race boasting all the popular classes: 1/10 2wd buggy 17.5, 13.5 and Mod, 4wd Mod Buggy, Mod Truck, and 1/8 Electric Buggy!
The track surface was prepped for action boasting great traction with moderate tire wear. There were no complaints to be had about the layout as it was both technical fast and fun! Huge Kudos go out to Kevin Jelich and Eric Vasutin co owners of Norcal Hobbies for providing one of the best tracks California has to offer. If you ever get time to check this track out you MUST do so. It not only has the off-road track in the photos but a huge butter smooth asphalt track and full sized indoor carpet track all at one to notch facility! Check it out: http://www.norcal-hobbies.com

Team Manager, Randy Pike
Tekin team manager Randy Pike was in attendance offering up support to any Tekin user at the event. Randy was onsite with a full support trailer never leaving the venue all weekend. Once again proving Tekin's dedication to racing!

Team Driver, Kevin Jelich
Tekin driver Kevin Jelich was always on pace and in contention to take wins in both 2wd mod buggy, 4wd mod buggy and 1/8 Electric. Kevin qualified no lower than 3rd in any of the 3 classes he was in which is a feat considering he was helping with the events needs at the same time! Kevin was on fire in the 4wd mod class where he had used his Tekin horsepower to quad over multiple drivers in the mains to take positions. Kevin placed 3rd overall after the triple A's were calculated, great job Kevin. Kevin ran a Tekin RS Pro with an 8.5 in 2wd Mod, RS Pro and 5.5 Redline in 4wd Mod, and Tekin RX8 with a T8 2050 in 1/8.

Jason Moberly's RX8/T8 4S powered AE RC8b
Jason Moberly had tough luck in qualifying but laid it down in the last chance qualifier in 2wd mod to make the A. Jason had the speed of the top 3 but luck was not on his side in this class. Jason used the Tekin Redline 8.5 for its smooth and controllable horsepower needed to prevent wheelies on the high bite surface. Where Jason really got it done was in the 1/8 Electric buggy class. Jason had a few mechanicals in qualifying with his brand new AE RC8b electric buggy that caused him to be in the B main. Jason knew he had his car back on point after the first 2 laps in the B-main! Jason went from the back of the pack and up to 1st after a few more laps laying down smooth consistent times to take one of the 2 bump up spots putting him in the A! Jason was dropping the hammer on this Tekin RX8/2000 truggy combo and Tekin prototype 4s pack which never missed a beat.

Rany Pike's Tekin RX8/T8 4S powered Losi 8ight
Randy managed to secure the last A spot being 10th on the grid in 1/8 Buggy and finished one position better after triple A's in 9th. Randy was using the RX8 and 1900kv buggy motor and prototype Tekin 4s battery.
The 1/8 Electric Buggy class had 3 full heats at this event with a triple A main format along with 2 bump up from the B main. The 1/8 Electric class was dominated by Tekin RX8's and T8's being the clear choice at this event. All Tekin Rx8 users had full TEAM treatment being able to have Randy's assistance with programming and any product support. Over half the field chose Tekin as their power system!
