- 2008 Columbia Cup Race Report
Friday Practice
Sun was out and skies were clear at 9am as track opened, Gullickson hit the TRACK 1ST with his Gas Truck only 2 complete 4 laps and throw a rod. As everyone else got their stick time in Gullickson was wrenching away trying to get a new Engine ready to practice with. Once 2pm rolled around Gullickson was now out with his RS powered electric trucks to get some track time in as there was only 4 hours left of practice, he was able to get a total of 4 packs in with his electrics and 2 tanks in with his Gas Truck
Saturday Qualifying
1st round: Gullickson was able to TQ the 1st round in Stock Truck and Gas Truck while sitting 3rd overall in Mod Truck.
2nd Round: Gullickson was able to TQ again in Stock Truck and lock the TQ position, he was also able to TQ again In Gas Truck and lock that position as well, in Mod Truck he was now sitting 2nd overall.
3rd Round: as the 2nd round ended it started raining and the wind picked up causing damage to the drivers stand, we were unable to run the 3rd round due to the damage and repairs needing to be done for the safety of everyone racing, so the track was now closed and it was time to prepare for the Mains.
A1 Gullickson sitting on the Grid in Stock Truck led the pack around for the full 5 minutes to take the win in the 1st Amain, in Mod Truck he battled and freight trained with 2 other guys and was able to finish 2nd.
A2 Gullickson once again led the pack around and after being a lap up and 2 laps to go his truck started fading and losing power and as the pack caught up he was able to finish 3rd overall for the 2nd Amian, later finding out his Battery false peaked. In Mod he once again was able to secure 2nd.
A2 Gullickson, knowing he had to win this one to win overall for this race and get the points for the NCT Series piloted his RS powered truck to a flawless run and victory, in mod truck he once again was able to secure 2nd, however in Mod there was a 3 way tie with the tie breaker going to your throw out, which gave Gullickson the win as well in Mod Truck
Gas Truck 30min. A at the start of the race while waiting for the tone Gullickson was being topped off when the tone went off, as he tried to go his Engine flamed out and by the time he got going he was already a lap down. After 20 minutes into this 30 min. Event Gullickson was now on the same lap and only a lap behind the 2 leaders and running in 3rd place, however landing off a jump and pulling the throttle his Gas Tracks diff blew out leaving Gullickson stranded in the middle of the Track.
